Stress-Free Routines: Revive Your Mornings with 5 Tips
Taking a Flexible Approach to Your Morning Routine

Do you ever feel like your morning routine is just too much? You’re not alone. Like you, I use to try to begin my days with the intention of having a disciplined morning routine, only to find myself overwhelmed and stressed. That’s why I ditched the routine and started taking a flexible approach to my morning routine. Now, you can start your day with a sense of calm too. Here are my 5 tips to help you create your own stress-free morning routine.
Choose One Thing To Commit To
When it comes to your morning routine, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all of the things you should be doing. Instead of taking on too much, choose one thing that you truly love to commit to each morning. Whether it’s yoga, meditation, or journaling, this will help you create a sense of balance in your day.
I discovered this the old fashion way of trial and error. I use to try to do it all, work out, journal and meditate but honestly, my days are never the same, and doing all these things just wasn’t working. I found that what did work and brought me joy was doing breathing exercises. This is one thing that I have been about to commit to, no matter how crazy my day is. Some days I do longer sessions and depending on what happens, I shorten the time to fit my day.
Start Small
It can be tempting to try and do everything at once, but it’s important to start small. Choose one activity you love and commit to it, even if it’s just for five minutes. Now that you have a starting point, you can begin adding more activities as you go. I was recently talking to a close friend who was like her life has changed so much after she stopped trying to live by everyone else standards of being superhuman and doing everything. Once she broke down her routine, she had more time and didn’t feel so rushed in the mornings.
Listen to Your Body
lI have always been one who listens to my body. It has been my guiding light in deciding what works and what doesn’t. We all want to start our day off on the right foot and create a morning routine that will set us up for success. But for many of us, these routines can become overwhelming and frustrating. Instead of beating yourself up for not sticking to a strict to-do list, start by listening to your body. What do you need each morning to feel your best? Yoga? Meditation? A good book? Choose the one activity that helps you start the day feeling relaxed and energized, and commit to making it part of your routine.

Make it Flexible
Creating a strict routine can be counterproductive. We all have days when our bodies and minds need more rest, or we take on an extra task and have to adjust our plan. Instead of forcing yourself to follow a rigid schedule, give yourself some flexibility and grace. A little bit of flexibility can go a long way in helping you stick to your routine.
Trust Yourself
Above all, trust yourself. You know what you need to do each morning to create a stress-free routine that works for you. Don’t be afraid to try something new or adjust your plans. You are the expert in what makes you feel your best, and as long as you’re listening to your body and giving yourself grace, you’ll be able to find a routine that works for you.
