A Peaceful Retreat Made Easy
Shh, close your eyes for a sec; your peaceful retreat is closer than you think. Allow yourself permission to travel to your happy space. Do you hear that? Exactly nothing, just silence. Allow this feeling to settle over you as your shoulders start to relax; picture the stress of the week as it starts to melt away.
A peaceful retreat is more than getting away; it’s a feeling of freedom. Imagine having this feeling for more than a few seconds but a whole weekend. Take a mini vacation and escape to your own personal paradise – no phones ringing or obligations waiting! This isn’t just getting away–it’s allowing yourself moments of blissful freedom for an entire weekend.
It seems impossible, but it’s not. My fellow gypsy, you can create a mini eat, love, pray, peaceful retreat. So first, you need to permit yourself to spoil yourself. Think of this as taking yourself on a romantic getaway. You deserve a weekend to rest. Because honey, if you keep running on fumes, snapping at everyone with an attitude, dragging to work every day, and feeling burnt out, you are no good to anyone. Now do me a favor and breathe in the possibilities. Can you imagine what a weekend trip would look and feel like for you?

Time To Go
When I planned my mini-retreat, I took my retreat in late fall to mentally prepare for the holidays, it’s also the off-peak season for many hotels.f year. (girl, I have to be reasonable) I decided to stay close to home because I would be leaving my stay that Monday and going to work. (surprising that wasn’t bad) Now I will not lie; I was a little nervous about telling my husband I wanted to go on a weekend getaway alone.
Although I was a bit apprehensive about booking my mini-retreat alone, with the holiday season right around the corner it made sense to take advantage of hotel discounts during off-peak times which happened to be conveniently close by. In hindsight -my time away ended up being an unexpected and welcome respite ahead of all that festive hustle and bustle.
However, Sam is the best as my biggest supporter; he understood that this was something I needed. Honey, let me tell you, I needed this like I need air to breathe. I felt like I was about to burst with the tension, anxiety, and stress of everything we call life. It felt like I barely had time to breathe or hear myself think past the noise of everything around me. This peaceful retreat was my saving grace, my moment of blissful freedom.

Leaving the house for my mini eat, pray, love, and peaceful retreat, I could not help but feel guilty and excited. More than anything, I felt lucky to have the opportunity to experience such a treat. I also wondered how great it would have been to arrange a limo to pick me up; oh the possibilities. (but seriously, next time, I might)
Arriving at the Weynoke Hotel was exciting. I walked in feeling like Kelly Rowland with my it-girl shades and go-to lip gloss. After checking in, I glided down the hallway toward my room. I stopped several times to take selfies and pictures of the décor. The Weynoke hotel is in the historic district of downtown Farmville, VA.
It Feels So Good
The Weynoke Hotels’ exquisite attention to detail and the original structure were magnificent. As I opened the door to my room, I started jumping up and down and dancing as I threw my bags down. Your girl was here, and my moment was now. I wish I could explain how it felt to soak up the peacefulness of that moment and know that it was mine and mine alone to do as I pleased. (soon, you will know this feeling)
I think I did the wobble inside the room and then some more as I checked out the bathroom. I have this thing about bathrooms; they must be spotless, and Weynoke did not disappoint. Looking at shower I could not help but imagine how good it would feel to stand under that spray then wrap myself in thickness of terry cloth bathrobes. First, let’s pop a bottle of wine and celebrate freedom. Because this weekend, I am doing what makes me happy.

That’s the feeling, my gypsy friend, that I also want for you. To forget about everything else but loving on you. Just picture yourself at your favorite hotel or bed and breakfast, enjoying a peaceful retreat and creating memories and unforgettable moments. Now here are a few things that I want you to keep in mind when planning your retreat.
Plan Your Retreat
First, what is your budget? How much do you want to spend on your stay, including food and souvenirs? Second, do you want to stay in another state, country, or town? Then decide how long you plan to stay on your trip. Is this a weekend, week, or just an overnight stay? Are you planning on exploring new places or revisiting some spots? Regardless decide if the location of where you are staying will fit with what you want to do. It’s called a peaceful retreat; it is supposed to be relaxing, not stressful.
Maybe you would love a mini peaceful retreat, but it’s not in the cards for you this time around for whatever reason. Don’t feel discouraged. Plan a day trip out in nature. There is something about getting outside that helps you clear your head. Go check out a museum. Take yourself on a lunch date or stop at that local bakery/coffee shop. Sit beside the water and have yourself a picnic. Picture what it is you need, then make it happen.
3 Reasons To Plan A Peaceful Retreat
1. Recharge and Refresh- Time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life will provide you an opportunity to recharge your energy levels and restore balance in all aspects of life.
2. Reduce Stress- Taking a solo getaway is an excellent way to relieve stress, as it allows you to decompress without any distractions or obligations weighing on your mind.
3. Practice Self-Care- When traveling alone, it is easier to focus on yourself – giving you the perfect opportunity for needed self-care activities like yoga, meditation or simply taking time out for yourself by lounging on a beach chair with a good book or soaking up some vitamin D outdoors!
A mini peaceful retreat is all about what you need to relax, reset, and find that inner peace you’ve been missing. Just make sure that you always have a good bottle of wine to toast to yourself for all that you do. Celebrate the beauty in being uniquely you.
